Last Christmas Friday...

Happy Friday,

I guess I miscalculated as I had planned to show the simple cards I made for Friends and  family for the last Christmas Friday which I thought coincided with Christmas Eve!

Therefore tomorrow I will show the simple cards I made this year and so I have given this card its day on the blog I thought I had posted it but I can't find it!

I added the retro mask ( from the Christmas range by That Special Touch) to a piece of card covered in double sided adhesive sheet.  I covered the mask with perfect medium so that it didn't stick to the adhesive.  I added mulled wine gilding flakes onto the adhesive through the mask and scrubbed off the excess.

I removed the mask and added white microbeads over the remaining exposed adhesive.

Next I cut the outline form the snowflake die into this "background" then cut the reminder of the dies in the set in antique gold and bright white alternately

I finished with a spray of the foliage from the Christmas rose die set covered in microbeads and gold mica flakes .  A bow and a muse token ( by Tim Holtz) and finished.

All year round gold...

Happy Tuesday,

I know we use Gold a great deal for Christmas but to be honest that and silver are colours or shades that I use all year round.  Whilst I know it is soon Christmas I wanted to show an alternative way to use gold card that doesn't look like a leftover from the festive period.

U stared by cutting the linear elegance edger central die 4 time down a piece of antique gold foundation card rotating the die each time so that it faces a different direction with each cut. I mounted this over a piece of coconut white foundation card which I had cut the edges using  the smaller looped edger die from the same set.

Next I cut the first three dies in the Fiji set in coconut white and backed this with antique gold.  I then cut the third die form the Bora Bora die set in gold and added this with the next die in the Fiji set cut in white.  The great thing about the pacific ocean set is that each set of central dies in a different design and size across the 3 shape sets ( the pacific Ocean islands)

I mounted this over the centre of the background so the central pattern is visible through the centre ( well its a waste to make a nice background and fully cover it!)

I finished with the three striped nasturtiums cut solid in gold and open petals in white.  I arranged these over a spray of the SW Ivy die and added Olympic gold PVA in the centres of the flowers and around the background.

Another layer of gold cut with the final edger die in the Linear elegance set and a few layers of gold and white to frame the piece.

Enjoy...

Black and white Monday...

Happy Monday,

A strong Black and White card today using the centres of the Pacific Ocean collection.  I simply love the way these tessellate together to make complex or simple patterns.

I simply used a variety of the hexagonal shapes to make the pattern in the black foundation card. I then mounted the other shapes within the Tahiti die set to layer through the black and white.

I just love the simple way the Black and white works although I know it's not everyones cup of tea!

I made up the starflowers using variegated black and white adding stick on crystals ( form Craft Consortium) to add some shine and shimmer.

For the foliage I used the Family Tree die cut in gloss black and gloss white snipping the tree down to make the foliage.

The sentiment is from my Rose elements clear stamp set which is one of the first sets I designed and use my favourite font the Draft Handwriting which has the lines on as if it has been drafted.

I thought he black and white would be a good antidote to the bright Christmas colours that are everywhere at the moment!

Waste not Want not...

Happy Sunday,

A simple card today made from the fall away ( I hate the word waste as I don't believe we create waste as crafters!)  from the Starflowers I used to create tomorrows card.

I simply carefully placed the dies on a piece of hammered white foundation card and cut these so that the flowers tumble down the page.  I backed trains with Cobalt foundation card and added cosmic white PVA dimensional glue in the dots to give ,more definition.

I mounted this onto a piece of offset embossed card ( again form making a different project) and added layers of white and cobalt.

Finally a stamped tag cut with the stitched tags dies of course cut from snaps with some oddments of thin satin ribbon.

Enjoy...
